Understand the problem before treatment.
Tiny crawling mites appearing near a roof space or former nest? Chris can assess the evidence, possible source and suitable treatment.
Bird mite biology and behaviour.
Biology and life cycle
Bird mites are tiny arachnids associated with birds and their nests. Some feed on blood and may move away from a nest when birds leave, sometimes entering nearby rooms.
Where they live and how they behave
Activity can be linked to nests around eaves, roofs or other building openings. Because other small pests can look similar, a specimen or clear close-up image is useful. Skin irritation alone cannot identify the cause.
How Chris can help
Chris considers identification, nest location and the route into the property before discussing treatment and prevention. Any nest work must respect wild-bird protection and be assessed before it begins.
Prevention and preparation
Avoid disturbing nests or sealing occupied entrances. Record the rooms and times where activity appears and, if practical, keep a specimen in a closed container for identification.

Signs to discuss with Chris.

Very small moving specks near a window, wall or roof opening.
Nearby bird nests
Recent bird nesting activity close to the affected room.
Activity after nesting
Mites appearing after young birds have left a nearby nest.
